FAQs

What is Skinja?

A daily polyphenol and collagen ritual designed to give you agency over your skin and long-term health.*

What are polyphenols, and why do they matter?

Polyphenols are compounds found in colorful fruits and vegetables, and many can reduce oxidative stress and inflammation associated with normal aging. Many can also improve mitochiondrial function and improve gut health. They’re one of the main reasons we’re told to “eat the rainbow”—but most people don’t get enough polyphenols or an appropriate variety of polyphenols consistently.

How is Skinja different from other polyphenol supplements?

Many products either underdose ingredients or rely on proprietary blends with undisclosed doses - so that it is unclear how many mg of polyphenols you are getting. Skinja provides standardized, science-backed doses of polyphenols (400 mg) and hydrolyzed collagen peptides (10 g).

How do I use Skinja?

Pour Skinja into 12-16 ounces of water, and stir until the powder is dissolved.  We've also discovered that it tastes great with plant-based milk and Greek yogurt. No complicated routines or timing required. Best when used as a daily ritual.*

When should I take it?

Any time that fits your routine. Morning tends to work best for consistency, but what matters most is taking it daily.

Can Skinja replace fruits and vegetables?

No. It’s not meant to replace whole foods. In reality, most people don't get 5-7 fruits and vegetables a day. And even those who do, often don't get enough of the right types of polyphenols to maximize the benefits. Skinja helps to close the gap.

How long does it take to notice results?

Based on the formula, some people may notice changes in how they feel and look as early as 4-12 weeks. It's best to use Skinja as a daily ritual, for the long-term. Health benefits are optimized when healthy eating practices become long-term rituals.

How many calories and carbs does Skinja have?

Skinja has 50 calories and 5 grams of carbs (2 grams of net carbs).

Does Skinja have added sugar?

No. Skinja does not have any added sugar. Skinja is sweetened with monk fruit extract and stevia extract.

Are collagen peptides complete proteins?

No — A "complete" protein contains all nine essential amino acids your body can't make on its own. Collagen peptides are an incomplete protein because they are naturally low in some essential amino acids and contain no tryptophan. So, collagen peptides are not meant to replace dietary protein, like protein found in meat, dairy, and fish.

But, don't worry, the collagen peptides in Skinja are meant to support skin health. They have concentrated nonessential amino acids, namely glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline, the very amino acids that support skin health.

What's the difference between collagen peptides and regular collagen?

It comes down to size and absorbability. Collagen in its natural form is a large, tightly wound protein — it's the structural material in skin, bones, and connective tissue, and in that intact form it's poorly absorbed by the body. Collagen peptides are made by hydrolyzing that collagen: enzymatically breaking the long chains into much shorter fragments. That single change makes the collagen more readily absorbed, so the amino acids and small peptides can be absorbed and circulated, including to the skin.
